Indonesia's APP may seek to acquire Kimberly-Clark International's household paper business

2025-05-16

Indonesian pulp and paper company APP is in talks to acquire Kimberly-Clark's International Household Paper business, according to media reports. The potential acquisition is part of Kimberly-Clark's business restructuring programme, following the sale of its personal protective equipment (PPE) business to Ensell Group in 2024.

If the International Household Paper divestment goes ahead, Kimberly-Clark's strategic focus will be on its core market of North America, while increasing its investment in high-margin personal care and health products, including its well-known nappy brand Huggies and other product lines. The move signals that the consumer goods giant is optimising its global footprint by divesting non-core assets to strengthen its competitive advantage in key areas and its premium product matrix.
